Painter Calligraphy

A substantial portion of my professional work is related to digital lettering and calligraphy.

For that kind of work I find myself using more and more the elegant Calligraphy tool found in Inkscape, the free vector drawing software. Inkscape has the additional advantage of producing resolution independent images, which can be exported to Illustrator, CorelDRAW or Photoshop for further processing.

But then there’s Painter, and there are some things that only Painter can do for you!

The Steal Gogh Brush

The Steal Gogh Brush is a custom brush I made for Corel Painter 11. This is a strange, wild brush, and it may require some time to adjust to. No matter what you try, the resulting stroke will go places where you probably don’t expect it to; when it works, the result will be somehow impressionistic.

You can see the Steal Gogh Brush in action here and here. I also used it to paint this one.

This brush is free for commercial or personal use, but please don’t redistribute it without authorization.
